I like the sounds my car radio makes
They are the kinds of sounds that sound best at night
If I had a sound track to my life it would be my car radio on my long and frequent night drives
when work has ended and sleep has not yet begun
(when does sleep ever begin?)
i have nine CDs and all of them have music i have listened to over and over again.
(are you a chronic listener too?)
perhaps i am the kind of person who eats burgers plain and remembers everything everyone else has ever said
if my mother saw me now
she would say,
don't you know that staying out late at night invites the devil?
the devil doesn't want me, i'd say.
i don't do enough to the people around me to warrant such fascination.
then what do you do, my friend asks, what's better than being at home, on the couch, in love?
what's better than love?
the sounds my car radio makes,
selfish, talkative sounds,
competitive sounds that fight for control over my limited brain space where my thoughts usually have such a strong reign
thoughts return the heaviest blows
they proceed action
action is almost always folly
