I went to Keyport to see 10 Cents Short the other night. Great set. Those guys know how to rock. Hung out with them outside of the place. Good people. Really cool. So looking forward to playing with them again next week.
Speaking of which; Hugfest is shaping up pretty nicely. It'll be the return of the infamous Happy Fun Banzai Room, making it a more permanent venue. Not to mention, it should also be our CD release show. We recorded four tracks on Saturday. Two new ones are down and two old ones are re-recorded. None of them are completed yet. I have to lay down vocal tracks on two more songs and three of the four songs need gang vocals done on them, which, hopefully, I'll be able to have the guys in 10 Cents Short come up and help us with, because everyone else in Wolf It Out besides me is either in the middle of puberty or still hasn't reached that point yet. That should all be done by this week.
I posted a bulletin on MySpace a two or so hours ago asking anyone to draw up some cover art. I got 5 or 6 responses withing just a couple of minutes. Gave all of them descriptions of what I want done. We'll see how any of their works turn out.
I don't know how the quality of our EP will turn out. It was recorded by Chris Fortunato, the kid whose basement we played for what turned out to be not his birthday. It was all done on a laptop. I heard these rough recordings through the PA we plugged it into. It didn't sound half as bad as I thought it would, but this stuff wasn't even mixed yet. So, we left it up to Chris to take it home and work with it. I think it'll sound way better than it did in the basement we recorded it in. It only took three to four hours. We sort of rushed through it. We'll just have to wait and see.
Hugfest will be BYOBallin'. I'm pysched about that part for some reason. Well, after accidentally getting a bit wasted the last time, I guess I can see why. Hilariously stupid fun.
This show should fucking rule!
At work today, I took a box cutter and went into the back room where we store everything and wanted to slice open the plastic that held all of the Coke bottles in the box. You know, the big 24 pack of 'em or something. Anyway, I was poking holes in the plastic with my finger earlier and thought that it would be way more fun to use a box cutter. So I got one, as you know, and went back there. Stood about two feet away from the crate, which was at chest-height, and took a swing at it. Well, not only did I manage to cut the plastic open, but in doing so, I also sliced a bottle of Coke open one inch going across the neck. Immediately it sprayed all over the right side of my torso, shoulder, and mouth. It was disgusting, tasty, and fucking cool all at the same time. I was in shock for a second or two and then realized what had happened. I then got some paper towels and cleaned up the mess. After all of that, I drank my victim.
Dude, you can do that with people. Shit's fucked up, man.
The new Michale Graves album is pretty damn good. His voice never ceases to put me in awe. There's a very piano-oriented track towards the end of the CD. Brilliant.
This'll probably be my last post before the Happy Fun Banzai Room show. Not that you or I care, but I figure that just by saying so, I'd use up some more space on the internet and feel like an important person.
