NOT EATING ANIMALS DOESN'T GIVE YOU AN EATING DISORDER! DX

Ok, need to rant for just a moment...

I was watching the New York news (the only "local" channels we get on our satellite are from New York and California -_-) with my mom the other day, and that story preview thing that they do before the commerical break said something like "Can a vegetarian diet be dangerous? Story next." So I waited, and then they came back, and talked about this new study of teen vegetarians...
...that claims that being vegetarian makes you more likely to develop an eating disorder.

(not the same station; just a link to it I found through a yahoo news search)

ok, WTF?!! DX

One has NOTHING to do with the other! You would have to already have that personality/self esteem flaw/brain chemical imbalance in you, vegetarianism doesn't CAUSE that! Yes, some kids DO call themselves "vegetarian" just so that they can have a socially-acceptable excuse not to eat anything, but that's a SYMPTOM, not a CAUSE! I've been vegetarian for 6 years, and yes, I am skinny, but that's because I've ALWAYS been skinny, and not anorexic thin, but HEALTHY thin! DX

Sorry, it just that idiots who think this drive me insane DX Probably because that's what my mom first thought when she found out that I wanted to go vegetarian. -_-
(she asked if I wanted to be like Mary-Kate Olsen...yeah, it was THAT long ago -_-')
It makes me sad to think of the young teenage kids that after telling their parents that they want to go vegetarian, their parents see this news story and jump to conclusions. U.U

vegetarian, vegetarianism
