When people release a bunch of rubber, non-biodegradable balloons for an event or a memorial or something. Irritates me to no end. Whenever I see people doing it on tv, I'm like, "dude, you're gonna kill something!! DX" Back when I was like, 7, I played this computer game about environmental stuff - I forget what it was called - and in one part, you had to help a sea turtle who got a balloon stuck in his throat. So every time I see somebody releasing balloons, I'm like, "THE TURTLES!!! DX"
I mean, seriously, I know a lot of people don't know, and they do it to remember the life of a child or whatever, but why mourn the death of someone by doing something that'll most likely kill more living things, turtles, dolphins, etc.? I'm not equating animals and humans, the irony just irks me, that's all.
Also, companies (HSN, QVC, etc.) that still use styrofoam peanuts when they ship stuff. There are so many alternatives for packing material; crumpled up paper, air bags, biodegradable peanuts made out of corn that dissolve in water...there's just NO excuse to still use those unbiodegradable, reusable but NOT recyclable, messy, annoying, potentially dangerous to children and companion animals, STYROFOAM PEANUTS! DX
Littering also irritates me, especially in this area. I used to clean up trash in the backyard near the woods that was apparently left behind by whomever lived here before us, and it always astounded me; how people could just throw their beer cans and crap into this beautiful little piece of nature like "whatever." *toss* >.<
I may not recycle, because I live in the middle of freakin' nowhere where there isn't even TRASH COLLECTION, but at least I don't throw my garbage around like a hick! DX
...the cats outside do that for us. -_-'
(we clean it up, though)
Let's see, what else...running the water while brushing your teeth - my dad does that, it's pretty annoying; leaving bright lights or energy-sucking appliances on when they're not being used; people dumping toxic chemicals out of laziness, or using dangerous pesticides/herbicides on their lawns just so they can "keep up with the Joneses", wastefulness in general...
And, quite possibly most of all, right after the balloon thing:
Al Gore making NO mention of how a person's food choices (like eating beef) can contribute to greenhouse gas pollution in An Inconvenient Truth, or anywhere, at that.
