"concerts with my girl Sarah Levy
Yesterday was by far one of the most entertaining days that I've had in a long time. Miss Sarah Levy and I, along with our parents..unfortunately.., went to the Barneaked Ladies/Alanis Morisette concert. Before the show started me and Slevy walked around the Tweeter and got our pictures taken, had some good discussion, received staples pens, Clif bars that looked and tasted sketchy, and I persuaded a French vendor to sell me a strawberry smoothie for $3.50, yay for my persuasion skills. Returning to our seats, the first act was by this guy named Mark McAdams who was a good singer and had a quirky funny personality. When he finished his set he said that he was selling his cd's and would be glad to deface their covers with his signiture, or a portrait for and extra fee. So I bought his cd and after waiting in line for a while requested a portrait. good times.
Upon return from visiting Mark, Sarah and I found that the seats next to ours had been filled by three very baked and extrememly drunk 30-somethings. The guy sitting next to Sarah, in an attempt of meaningful conversation?, asked "Why aren't you guys drinking?" we replied that we were under 21,he managed to spew out: "Don't worry, I'll hook you up with some drinks" while attempting to be cool, then his eyes became rather unfocused and he turned back to his equally intoxicated friends.
Soon after Alanis arrived on the stage and was totally amazing. She's such a good singer and despite some odd hunched over jumping around, was a great performer. The lights were amazing and Alanis was just crazy enthusiastic and happy.
The people surrounding us were all very into the show, there were two lesbians sitting two rows in front of us, both shook their heads to the music in the exact same way. Further into the show we realized that they were not in fact a lesbian couple, one of them was just a man with a very bad haircut...Later during Alanis' set my dad got lost and couldn't find our seats because it was too dark and he forgot his glasses. Fortunately, the fact that the stoner next to us was the only guy in the entire theater with a lighter and after a good long while my dad was guided to his seat by the beacon of a very determined man...
The Bare Naked Ladies were awesome, and very hilarious, they made my day. they spoke about heavy issues, like the letter M's superiority to the letter W, the importance of quittiing highschool to start a rock band, and what a conumdrum falling asleep at the wheel is. They were just really good and their synchronized cart dancing was out of this world.
And Omigod, Adam from Guster showed up and played a song!! yay for Guster!
"It's like meeting the man of your dreams and then meeting his beautiful husband"
-Alanis Morisette
"Get over here so I can spank you!!!"
-guy next to us
"So you too can quit school to start a rock band and have nothing to fall back on"
-The Bare Naked Ladies' guitarist"
and today was a sarah matt day and could it have been more wonderful? i think not. we did all of the usual stuff, listened to pop music while playing uno, had life talks, took long walks around town and stuff. then we also got free movies from the drugstore and watched the italian job which is a great movie. as well as having warm, freshly made brownies with choc chip cookie dough ice cream on top. then i tried to pop a grape in my mouth and make that popping sound but no one had ever schooled me in the way of this sport and i only put it in between my lips and not between my teeth and sucked it through and successfully made the noise, but since i didnt have it between my teeth, it shot straight to the back of my throught and i proceeded to choke on it. wow. awesome. it occurs to me that matt has been one of the only constant guys in my life. hes been one of my best friends for 4 years. and we'v been through it all if i do say so myself. my bad times, his bad times, my worst times, lol, two tries at being more, two break ups, and endless good times, a million laughs, and unconditional support. he is the only boy my parents will let in my room. he is the only boy i would ever let see me right after i get out of bed in the morning looking like hell. he is the only boy who ever listened to my hopes and dreams and fears like they actually meant something. and i love him for it.
VEAL! <<---inside joke
