of swing dancing and fire alarms and meh grades

Last night the I-house had free swing dancing lessons for residents and members ($5 for visitors).  It was a tad different than what I was taught ten years ago, but the teacher did a good job of emphasizing the footwork that goes along with the different twists and turns.   Unfortunately, I have a bad tendency of trying to lead (I DID have to deal with unenthusiastic and untalented middle school boys for three years) and a still-untreated case of hyperhidrosis.  However, it was still fun, and I'll gladly go again.

This morning, the fire alarm was my second snooze (I set my alarm for 7:40ish, and the fire alarm went off a bit before 8:00am).   In my still-sleepy state, I forgot about my keys.  Positive that my roommate would come back to the room with me once the confusion was over, I didn't worry about it too much until I couldn't find her once we were told the building was safe (we think some fire alarms malfunctioned).  Luckily, the front desk believed my story and was willing to give me a temporary key.  Unfortunately, they initially gave me the wrong key, so I had to go back downstairs for the correct one.  In the end, I had about 20 minutes to shower, brush my teeth, and get ready for my 9:30am class.  A friendly bus made me only five minutes late.

I got my first midterm back today.  I got a B/B+, which makes me sad since I rarely get B/B+''s any more, especially in non-econ social science classes.   Especially in classes about Eastern Europe.  Granted, I didn't quite finish all of the readings and didn't study quite as much as I had hoped (I also had a problem set due that day and we had a Teach For America Alumni Panel the night before), but still.  At least we have another midterm, a paper, and a final left,  so I guess I still have ways to redeem myself.
I have yet to receive my econ midterm back.  Perhaps tomorrow morning.
