The Cause:
A lot of the suffering and problems in first nations communities are
rooted in the loss of those groups' autonomy and culture.
We want to help fund community healing (to alleviate substance abuse,
family violence, apathy and depression, suicide rates, etc) in a manner
that allows first nations groups autonomy and the re-establishment of
their traditions and cultures.
This fundraiser is specifically for the Mushuau Innu community in northern
Labrador, which is in particularly dire circumstances and has one of the
highest rates of suicide in the world.

Amnesty Concordia + Mexican Association of Students cosponsored Juarez, Mexico event (raising money for http://www.casa-amiga.org/, an organization that provides help/shelter for women in Juarez. Currently, between 400-800 women have gone missing, been raped or tortured and the governmetn continues to do nothing about it. For more info, chekc out http://www.amnestyusa.org/women/juarez/ )
