Submitted into record without comment are my picks for favorite albums and extended plays, ordered alphabetically, of twenty aught-seven. Choices are subject to change as I catch up on recent purchases and downloads, but I'm fairly certain these are the chosen score.

Is this in descending order? Are you siding with Stylus and Paste and picking Boxer as best album of the year?

Ah, Slee. I love how I can always count on you to have a few bands I've never even heard of in your top albums list. Just when I think I'm hip and cool enough. Turns out, I'm just 45. And a bass player.

But seriously... I am most interested in your list, though I won't comment on at least one GLARING OMISSION. Largely because it should be obvious. Jerk. Kidding. I'm working on a Top 5 list for Sound Salvation Army. We're really forcing ourselves to narrow it down. Though we're also doing a seperate post where we expound on our favourite live shows of the year.

Alphabetically, in the Excel sense wherein "The" is considered a real word, but I REALLY love Boxer. In fact, if forced to winnow it down to five, it would like be Alcest, The National, Grinderman, My Teenage Stride, and...ugh, Okkervil River? Painful choice.

The New Pr0ns probably could replace the Arcade Fire album, which I admire more than actually enjoy.

Don't feel bad about not knowing a few of these. This was, after all, my year of \m/ METAL \m/.

Great list, Jeff. A lot of variety. Good to see Black Lips on there. They'll be on my list along with the Les Savy Fav record. So you like Jesu's Lifeline more than Conqueror? I'll do my list on homucomestible soon unless I start that music blog I keep talking about...

Thanks, man. I look forward to seeing your list as well, wherever you write it.

I picked Lifeline over Conqueror because of the great song "Storm Comin' On", which features a female vocalist instead of Broadrick, which makes for a nice change of pace. Both are pretty frickin' amazing, though.

Oh man, I've only heard a few of the albums on your list, amongst which I'm especially fond of Neon Bible and Hissing Fauna.

If I can get my act together, I'll post a mix over the x-mas holiday so you can check some of this stuff out. (And of course I'd be happy to send evaluation copies of any album you think might strike your fancy!)

Arcade Fire show in September was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

I saw them at a tiny club in Kansas and opening for David Byrne on the grand state of the Hollywood Bowl. Both were equally excellent. It's very cool you had the chance to see them on their last tour!
