After the painfully slow journey through the "Co-" CDs (the marathon of Cocteau Twins, Elvis Costello and Cowboy Junkies), The Project has reached a critical juncture necessitating a two-pronged ripping attack. Letters "No" through "R." are being digitized downstairs on the iBook; upstairs it's "Sa-Su" on the desktop. There have been a few casualties along the way, however. CDs were discovered to be too scratched to properly scan, while others were mysteriously missing from their jewel boxes. (Well, it's not really a mystery - I have a horrible habit of doubling up CDs when the proper case is nowhere to be found.)
Not everything has made the cut. I've chosen to disavow knowledge of Chumbawamba and Rusted Root and Urban Dance Squad. Joan Osborne is currently being transfered, though, so I can't say I'm being particularly picky. I refuse to apologize for the three Rush albums.
Then the fun part! I first have to remove duplicates, which is a challenge when you have 25 or so '80s compilations, so end up with 5 copies of "Mickey". Then I have to copy artwork onto the MP3s (damn you, iTunes, for not just including that on the CDDB information). Finally, I have to error-check the albums. I've already found that the ripped copy of the Night on Earth soundtrack is completely jacked, so there may be many, many more.
I know indie-punk kids aren't supposed to like jam bands, but DAMN is "The Low Sparks of High-Heeled Boys" a good song.
And so endeth the pointless entry.
