death magnetic
I just finished listening to the new Metallica album, Death Magnetic. It's not a great album. It's not what I would necessarily call a good album either. But I would not hesitate to say it's the best work Metallica has done since ...And Justice For All.
Really their main issue at this point is lyrics that are weak as all hell. Hetfield just doesn't write with anything near the skill of his youth, and his singing has gone way downhill too. Musically they don't have the talent with atmosphere they had back in the eighties (80's), especially on Master Of Puppets, but there were some guitar parts on this album that I thought were worthy of their name, and that's a shocking thing to feel after so many years.
I probably won't ever feel like I want to put this album on again...but it's nice to know the guys aren't completely failbait.
