These past few days, I've found myself spending a great deal of time in the library. Uther had one of the finest collection of books in all of Albion, but his library is not nearly as extensive as the one here. Hardly surprising, I suppose.
In Historical Essays and Studies, Lord Acton wrote: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are always bad men." He writes of political power, but I wonder: does the same apply to all forms of power?
Some seek power. Some accept power that is granted them. Some have no choice. Are all doomed alike to rot from within? And for those of us without power, have we no hope but to align ourselves with the lesser of two evils? Is that the best we can hope for?
I want to know what you saw in him. What was worth dying for?
