Ha! That made me smile. :)
Maybe it's just because Easter's coming soon, but there's been more than the normal amount of Christian/Jesus bashing on my flist lately. I see the "words matter" signs and think "No shit, Sherlock."
Well darn, that was bitter, wasn't it.
Not at all. I just re-read what I wrote...I apologize if I came across that way. Was it the bible camp reference? ;)
Your point is a good one. I do make the distinction in my mind, but I need to be certain that I differentiate in print between people like Ms Kern, and people who honestly follow Christ. I don't under any circumstances believe that she represents Christianity, and I should make that distinction whenever possible.
It's unfortunate that the "conservative" movement in this country has laid claim to "true Christianity" - a person's Christian street cred is linked by our media, and to a great extent by our government, to how far to the right their stance is on social issues. Eric Rudolph bombs an abortion clinic in the name of Jesus, Senator Frist testifying that God delivered Terri Schiavo to him to save, our own President claiming God put him in office...heck, this is its own post. I'll shut up now.
Point taken. I'm sorry. Happy Easter. :)

No, I should apologize. Your entry was, as always, articulate and respectful. I shouldn't have hijacked your comments for my bitchy whine.
Last week someone else on my flist posted an entry that attacked Christians and was very offensive, and their icon had a picture of someone holding one of those "words matter" signs. I was having an associative moment and should have kept it to myself.

2) Don't apologize. You are welcome to put your bitchy whines in my comments any time you like.
3) Regardless of the displaced nature of the whine, it still made me think, and I like that.
4) Sounds like you have your own post brewing in there. Do it. :)
