So, Leialni and I had just gotten back from Rent and she came into my room and broke the news to me "I think we have mice in our walls" So I said "ewe"...and then she went to work and I went to bed.
About 2 hours later I woke up and made my way into the living room for some TV and then a shower (the shower was to be taken in the bathroom, however.) While I am INNOCENTLY watching $40 on TV I heard this horrible squeaking noise. At first I thought that it was just the furnace having issues, but then I remembered Leilani telling me about the mice. I jumped up to make sure that Luke wasn’t torturing some poor little mousy!
I went over and saw that he had his paw under the door to our furnace closet. I went over and jiggled the door and the squeaking stopped. "Whew!" i said ... "NOT SO FAST" the mouse said. Just as I was sitting back down I hear"SQUEEK SQUEEK SQUEEK" from the closet again. This time I decided to be 'brave'
I went back over to the closet and decided to peek in. It was too dark to really see inside. So I SLOWLY SLOWLY SLOWLY inched closer to see. And then I saw it... a little black nose. A giant scream and a slam of the door quickly followed! ( I didn’t want a little mousy jumping onto my face!!)The little guy didn’t move much so I thought he might have been sick or dying.
Immediately after the door slamming I was on the phone with Leilani, and within minutes our positions had changed... I went into work to cover for her wile she went home to... uh.... dispose of the mouse.
About a half hour later Leilani came back into work and called me over to her
"I have some good news and some bad news"
"Was it not a mouse?? Was it not dead???" (I hoped that I had just not seen right)
"Well, the good news is it wasn’t dead... you didn’t get a very good look at it huh?"
"No... the bad news??"
"It wasn’t a mouse... it was bat!!!"
Well Leilani, being the dutiful husband that she is, took care of business and let the perfectly healthy and alive bat free outside.
Drama over, crisis averted. Although, in my defense.. had I known it was a bat the whole time I would have been able to take care of the entire situation on my own... maybe.
PS: On my way back into the house I decided to cut through the snow to get inside faster. I saw someone else had just done it so I was going to follow in their foot prints in the snow. I took maybe four steps and then BAM! Bitch went down! I fell in to a foot and half deep whole where a post used to be.. Woops! But its ok.. Snow is fun fun fun… :)
