Just got pulled over, AGAIN. For the second time this week.
The guy who pulled me over claimed that I did not stop at the red light prior to making a right turn, when in fact, I did.
Then he said, "Did you see the limit line? You sure didn't stop there."
So we get ticketed for even going over the line by the slightest? Because, you know, everyone stops precisely at the limit line, and I bet there hasn't been a single time when that officer didn't stop his car beyond the limit line. Right?
Is this even reasonable?
Even if I did go beyond. That limit line was at least five feet away from the actual intersection. Incoming traffic is stopped, intersecting traffic is making a left turn, unless I had stopped 25 feet beyond the limit line, there was no way that I could've been any more of traffic hazard. And yet I got cited for mere centimeters?
When handing my ticket to me, the officer said "I'm giving you a ticket for denial of guilt."
Wait. I'm getting cited because I told him, "No, sir. I did stop"? So if I had told him, "Yes, I'm sorry, I didn't stop." I wouldn't have gotten a ticket?
What does this tell us? That our national's social officers are teaching our citizens to LIE in order to avoid unfavorable circumstances? Yeah, real classy.
Moreover, I despise the fact that all the police gets all active towards the end of the month. Someone could have not a single fucking clue on how to drive safe and still be okay on the road as long as they don't drive during the last week of a month.
What is this telling us? That through their actions, our police officers are telling us that it's okay not to be hard-working and responsible about your job, as long as you have means to an end. Yes, that is exactly how our society will improve.
The officer said I needed to call the court within 21 days or face penalties. So as soon as I got off my car, I called the number, punched in the numbers they wanted into their automated system, and was told that they "have no records matching the given information." Okay, so maybe it's not in their systems yet. So I hit the number that corresponds with the operator, and was told,
"Our office is currently closed. Our working hours are Mondays through Fridays, from 8 AM to 4 PM."
Wait. 4 PM?! Even the bank's customer service opens until 5 PM! Taking away one hour of lunch break, it means they're only working seven hours a day. For God's sake, you guys are GOVERNMENT WORKERS, not fucking part-times at a McDonald's!! This is why I hate public service agents in America. Lazy, inefficient, and unreasonable. DMV, Passport Services, the Court. All the fucking same.
So technically, if I never call back again over the next 21 days, they shouldn't be allowed to penalize me in any way, because I had already contacted them, and they had failed in receiving my call.
Good job, America. I've been here for 12 years, and you never cease to amaze me.
