Sometimes, you just gotta try something new...
So I found out through my lovely friends here on LJ that BUNRAKU will be showing at AM^2 in California.
In my excitement and desperate need for a real vacation, I bought a pass for the full convention and booked a hotel and flight. I AM GOING TO SEE BUNRAKU!
I was trying to figure out what I would do for the rest of the convention, since I don't really know much about these things, or the performers that are going to be there and I noticed that they were looking for people to be a part of the staff. I had a brief moment of "Really, Amber? What are you thinking?" but then I looked into the areas that they were looking to staff and had a million ideas come up.
I realized that, even if I didn't get hired for the departments that directly correlate to my future dreams, I could get in contact with a ton of people who could help me out. So, I applied.
It's working already. I was contacted by 3 of the areas I applied for within 24 hours. I explained to them my future goals and they are now trying to get me in contact with the departments that directly correlate to my future. If that doesn't work, I will still be able to work in those departments! I can't believe my evil plan is kind of working!
All it took was me telling that negative little voice to STFU and giving it a shot!
*ETA: I just got a call from the person in charge of the karaoke event, I'm going to be spending some time manning the karaoke machine! If all goes well, I'll be in charge of the whole event next year, because this year's manager needs to step down. Holy shit. I'm pretty damned proud of myself right now.
