It looks like the Triangle's local rail project might be dead. Senators Burr and Dole sent a letter to Triangle Transit Authority (TTA) last week saying that the project did not meet federal standards for funding. This is in spite of the fact that whatever numbers you look at, there is going to be a huge increase in the number of cars on the road in the Triangle over the next 20-30 years. I had thought that Senators were supposed to fight for their states, but apparently, that is lost on Burr and Dole and so of course, NC taxpayers will soonn be paying for a light rail system in another state with more effective senators. Soon to be a reality in the Triangle:
