Am I the only one who is utterly sickened over the lack of response to what is going on in New Orleans? The situation is increasingly dire; the mayor of New Orleans
has put out a "desperate SOS" and Bush's priorities seem to center on
railing against looters. Bush doesn't even draw a distinction between people taking electronics and people taking food and water, which most of these articles, to their credit, go to great lengths to point out. This is heartbreaking to watch and its an absolute national disgrace. FEMA has been underfunded and short of resources for years, a fact which the administration has not paid much attention to. These people are Americans and they need help, not lectures on the law from a complete jerk who's never had to face a real problem in his life and seems utterly devoid of human compassion. These are desperate scared people, they are not the criminals, lawbreakers, and "evildoers" Bush has built his presidency around. And then there is Dennis Hastert,
who actually is questioning whether New Orleans should be rebuilt with federal money. Perhaps he has a point, but do our leaders in Washington have absolutley no tact at all???
