First of all I would like to start off this cheery post with the sappy statement that I am thankful for all of you dear friends! I love you much.
Secondly, I have a good story to tell you! On Wednesday (the day when most normal college students are basking in the warmth of pre-pumpkin pie festivities at home) I had class until 4:30 and Jenn worked until 4. So around 5:15 we roll out of Eau Claire, onto the newly constructed bypass around Chippewa, and start our 3 hour foray back to the true Valley. (none of this Chippewa Valley bullshit. The Fox River is where the cool kids play) In any case, Jenn and I have been quite busy recently at home so we are catching up since we haven't had a girls date night in awhile with just the two of us. We're singing along to the Moffats (shhh) and overall just really enjoying our dark ride home. About an hour into the drive (celebrated by: "An hour's past, we're almost to Wausau!") my car starts making an odd little noise that we can't decide if it is coming from the poor condition of the road or actually from my car. So we get off the highway and drive down this street and the noise stops. Ok, we say. Must have been the road. Back to the highway! So we're entering the highway (with a sign pointing us to Superior, by the way) and Jenn looks at me and says "Are we still supposed to be on 53?" "Yes of course I say." Moments pass and the realization hits us both that no, actually we're NOT supposed to be on 53. We freak out momentarily, see a sign welcoming us to Rice Lake and bust out the map o' Wisconsin. Turns out we had been driving straight north for the last hour and had failed to notice that we were passing towns that we'd never heard of and were not seeing towns we've seen every time that we've driven home for the past 3 years. Well, aside from taking tiny little county roads over to Green Bay, we decide to admit defeat and drive an hour back to Eau Claire and then just get on the correct highways and proceed like normal. To make a long LONG story short, after stopping in Thorp (Thorp!) for some fries, burgers and egg nog shakes, and exiting in the wrong place in Point and driving through the entire city, I made it home a little before 11pm. What is normally a 3 hour trip took us almost 6 hours in the "breezy" conditions outside that were so breezy that there was a wind advisory. All in all, it was a hilarious time. There was much Christmas caroling (some purposefully out of tune, some just out of tune because, well, it was a long trip) and some Little Mermaid at the end to keep our spirits up. In any case, I am very thankful however that we made it home safely. Because yesterday when the car was taken in for an oil change, it turns out the tie rod (?) was loose and the wheel could have come off. So yay! Good thing it didn't. Howeverr I am taking the mom's car back to school so it can get all fixed up.
Ok that was my story. I hope it entertained you a little. But for now, I am going to go procrastinate this homework stuff a little more and then go to Alysse's wedding!
