So, my current team has been informed, and everyone is very happy for me. And they want marketing schwag, of course...
I've started doing preliminary get-to-know-you type e-mail and meeting requests with a wide variety of people that I'll be working with. In one day I have scheduled more meetings than I've had in the last month. *That*'s going to take some managing...
Starting to bring one of my current team mates up to speed on some of my more obscure and challenging duties. And of course still working my current job. Five excellent bugs today thank-you-very-much. Silly, perhaps, but I take pride in it. I am such a festering gob of toffee nosed something-or-other... Stupid git, that's me. But I wear it on my sleeve at least.
Side notes about my new job:
I'll be doing some more travel, to conferences and such, with at least one trip coming up in March (to Florida), and another mid-summer sometime, destination undetermined (to "somewhere god forsaken where [the conference providers] can get lots of hotel rooms for cheap. Atlanta or something" quoth a team mate).
I get a nice spiffy laptop! I need to do executive presentations, internal as well as external, and run lots of virtual machines, so no skimping on the hardware.
I may well get an office to myself (for the first time since I was a contractor 4 years ago). At least at first anyway. I won't hold my breath on this, but it's what I've been told...
All in all, it's still full of excitement and surprise.
