I'm sitting in my kitchen, waiting for the moka pot to boil me up some nice, thick, dark coffee, and when I'm done, I'm going to haul both the coffee and my laptop back to my office where I'm going to mess around with my manuscript for a bit.
This has been a really great summer so far: I've gotten to spend lots of time with B (who's arriving here tomorrow, actually - a day earlier than planned!), I feel like my writing is back on track, I've finally arranged my manuscript in a way that I feel really good about, I'm working on running a 1/2 marathon in Philadelphia in November (I'm up to 3.5 miles - it's funny how a 9 year absence from running will take you down to the bottom rungs again...), I've spent a blissful week by myself in my apartment (which is a fantastic apartment, and has the distinct honor of being the first place I'm going to live in for more than a year since I left home for college), I'm getting a lot of prep work done for teaching in the fall (and I love prep work more than I care to admit on most days), my dad had heart surgery and is recovering well (his own personal quirks and twists on heart-surgery-recovery aside), my littlest brother got married to a great person and had a really beautiful wedding, and I think I may be going out for drinks with a friend tonight. Or maybe not - if not, I'm happy to stay here with the cat and watch another movie.
That's right. "Another" movie. "I've accepted summer laze" is also on the list of things that are making this summer great.
