Phoebe was still at the Penthouse, making sure that she had taken care of several last minute details. She had written a letter to her family so that they would know what she had done and why. She was drinking another glass of something and was preparing the final step of her plans when her laptop alerted her that she had a message waiting.

With widening eyes, she read the e-mail from Marie. She hadn’t expected a response from Marie, but now that she had it, she was carefully re-reading it. She had no doubt that if she wasn’t on that plane, Aziraphale would come after her - and alive or dead she would have a lot of explaining to do.

She swallowed. Marie was in Louisiana… with her big brothers… and, if she translated the part of the message correctly, Lana.

There were tears in her eyes as she got to her feet. Her final plans could wait a little bit longer. She could at least see them and say goodbye to them in person.

Phoebe grabbed her sweater and headed to the elevator. She had to tell Piper that she was going out of town for a little while.

When she got to the Manor, Phoebe let herself in and went immediately to Piper’s bedroom. She knocked on the door. “Piper, are you awake?”

Piper had been sitting by her window, staring out at nothing in particular, when her thoughts were interrupted by the knocking. She quietly got up to open the door, giving her sister a tired smile. "I'm awake."

It's not like sleep was very easy to find these days.

Phoebe could definitely agree with that assessment. “I was pretty sure you were,” she said quietly. “I wanted to let you know I’m going out of town for a week or two. I got an e-mail from Marie.” She didn’t tell her sister why she had gotten the e-mail from Marie. “She’s found Lana and they want me to come visit them.”

Piper blinked. "She found Lana? That's great!"

This was a very good thing. Piper's attempts to help her sister had been unsuccessful. Maybe Phoebe's old friends would have better luck helping her dig out of her depression.

Phoebe nodded. “She didn’t say how, but they’re both in a place called Milieux in Louisiana, and they have sent me a plane ticket to come see them. I’m supposed to leave on the red eye tomorrow night.”

Piper smiled. "You should go. I think it would be very good for you to get away for awhile."

“Get away from the memories assailing me at every turn, you mean?” she asked her sister with an attempt at a smile.

Piper's smile was quickly replaced with a frown. "Yes, exactly. I think you need this. Actually, I know this is what you need."

Phoebe nodded. “You’re probably right… and it’s not as if Marie gave me a chance to say no. She told me that if I wasn’t on that plane they were sending Aziraphale to get me.” Yes, she was leaving out the whys. Piper would find out later, and that was soon enough for Phoebe. She swallowed. “I miss him so much, Piper.”

"I know you do," Piper replied, wishing there was something more she could do or say to make things better. She walked over to Phoebe and held her tight, almost afraid to let go. Piper constantly feared losing one or both of her remaining sisters. There was no way she could survive another loss like that.

Phoebe held onto Piper, trying to fight back her tears. “Twelve years, Piper. Twelve years we were together. You would think that we would have been left alone!”

"I know," Piper said softly, continuing to hold her sister. She'd give anything to fix things, to protect Phoebe from this kind of pain. It wasn't fair. It really did seem like the Halliwells would always be blessed as witches and cursed as women.
