Just.... wow.
I've been back a couple of days now but every night I still dream about Vorovoro. The beauty of the place, the vivacity of the people who work there mixed in with the tribe members from across the world blended together to make one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
It was so hard to leave. If I could have quit my job and stayed on another month I easily and happily would have. There's a certain magic about the place that slowly but surely fills up your entire being with love and laughter.
If you're on facebook, check out the pictures. Eventually I'm going to add the videos I took as well just to give you all a brief glimpse of my time there.
My head is swimming with dreams from Vorovoro... I hardly know where to start. However, highlights include:
* Relaxing in hammocks on the beach
* School trips to the local school in Mali
* Falling asleep to the sounds of singing FIjians (who put all us tribies to shame)
* Drinking Kava and singing beautiful songs
* Late night campfire stories
* Paw Paw Curry!
* Living as part of a community rather than staying at a resort.
* Singing and dancing the Monkey Meke!
I treasure each and every moment I had upon the island and was absolutely heartbroken to leave. When everyone sang my Isa Lei (a Fijian goodbye song), I couldn't help but cry my eyes out. It even got a bit much on the plane home and I cried in the plane toilet. To be ripped away from an eco paradise with people you love like family is so hard to do, but it definitely wasn't a goodbye, just a Moce (pronounced moh-they, meaning see you later).
I would recommend the experience to anyone and everyone who has ever wanted something more than just a regular holiday and people interested in the environment and the world around them. The lessons you learn on Vorovoro touch your heart and warm the soul.
