NY D4

Day 4 - visited Desert Island, a cool indy comics/art book store in Brooklyn, for a Paul Hornschemeier signing. Rain made people late but it soon filled up. Desert Island has a ton of cool books and some nice decor, and they even publish a comics tabloid called Smoke Signal. Got to talk to Paul a little bit about the end of his band Arks and his future projects. Got a Marcel Dzama print as a gift to our kind hosts. The owner of the store gave me a free Chris Ware postcard too. Cool beans.

Afterwards I went to the opening of the Future Ink show at BQE Eye Level Gallery a few blocks away. It was packed and moving around was difficult, but I got a couple of pics of what I could. Most of it looked interesting, especially seeing original art pages of Kazimir Strzepek and some particularly great strips by John Brodowsky, but I was solo on this and barely knew anybody, so after seeing the works I took off for home to try and get a good night's sleep for the following day, which would be the festival proper.
