there's battlescars on all my guitars but still I come out here and play

Last night I went with Dylan to see Ozma. This was the first show I've been to in more than a year, sadly. Both opening bands were really cool, but Teaneck was especially awesome with their guitar solos. Jose from Ozma played a few songs with both openers. As Dylan says, "I wish I was as psyched about anything as much as Jose is about playing guitar." Agreed.

Ozma rocks so very hard live. I'm really glad that I finally got to see them, as the last time I had a chance like five years ago my mom grounded me and wouldn't let me go. Lesson to all parents: I don't remember why I was grounded, but I do remember how much of a jerk she was. Then there was talk of them breaking up, and I was completely pissed. But oh well. AT LEAST I GOT TO SEE THEM ROCK THE PASEDENA, BITCH.

One unexpected thing about Ozma shows is the moshing. Yep, guy on the stage is singing about puppy love, but the audience is fully into the agressive dance of the punks. I think I may have flattened my petticoat from being in the outlier of the pit. But it was pretty fun once you got into it. Yeah, I was standing front and center until this guy who brought every motherfucker he's ever met sat down on the amp right in front of me. One of his friends' drunk girlfriend even got on stage and started dancing drunkenly. Why must there always be that group of people that heckle the openers while simultaneously pretending to be their biggest fans, who pass around a water bottle full of vodka, who act like the entire show experience was created for their enjoyment only, and therefore its okay to climb on the stage and be jerks to those around you.

Today I'm probably gonna laze about with Adam after he gets off work. I should finish that black and blue skirt, especially since I now have an Ozma shirt to match it.

ozma, concerts
