Sunshine!! These past few days have been very warm, and since yesterday there's even sunlight. 20 degrees Celsius yeterday - 26 today (warmest day of the year in the UK!).Yesterday I woke up to find
kankyuuhin gone, so after I spoke to my mom on the phone and stuff I decided to go for a walk around the area, maybe look for a park to sit at and enjoy the sun. To think that in the almost two years that we've lived here I've never really gone around the neighbourhood... I was curious to see if we did have a park of any sort nearby.
And we do! It's called "Harrow Recreation Ground" XD
The weather was really fortunate because I got to see so much of the neighbourhood in full bloom, with a clear blue sky above. To find the park I basically followed the greenery, lol. There were many trees at the end of one road so I figured there must be something there, and sure enough there it was XD I don't know if I'll get to go again, but even for that one time it was a lovely experience.
I came home and finished whatever was left of United States of Tara which I'd started in the morning. It's a really good series, though not as hilarious as advertised... I can't help but feel the gravity of the situation. The kids are awesome though, both of them, and they add a lot of humour to the mix. Also, John corbett is hot even though he's pretty old now. I had no idea he's become a country singer, how random is that :P He does have a nice voice though.
Today has been lethargic at best. Spoke with my grandparents and my sister, watched the first couple of episodes of Troubleman with Shige (totally not what I expected, spent most of episode 1 going "whaa--...?") and Shukumei, a two-hour special with Fujiki Naohito based on a novel. You can really tell it's based on a book, a lot of the narrative elements are typical for a novel structure. Couldn't help but laugh at the overly dramatic plot points (someone was trying too hard to make the story dark and twisted :P), especially at the very end. It was interesting though, both from the standpoint of a police procedural plotline and as a drama of 2004 - the oldness shows in both the screenwriting and the camera work. One definite advantage though: the prettiness that is Fujiki Naohito's face, in the ripe young age of 32.
Makes the entire thing worth it. Even though you don't know for sure if he did or didn't kill the guy until right at the very end, and his excuses are a bit dodgy because he's such a bad liar, he's so pretty nothing else matters. Quite frankly he's the reason I watched it. Two hours of looking at this pretty thing. ♥
Speaking of pretty, how exciting is the news for the second season of Hotaru No Hikari?? :D BUCHOU! SASHIBURI DESHITA!! XD
And finally the day before yesterday I watched Boku No Imouto Ni Hen Koi Wo Suru with MatsuJun. Many thanks to
maechi for sharing! Although it was a slow and long movie (two hours), surprisingly it wasn't boring at all. There was a lot of tension in the scenes which accounted for a lot of pausing, but that made it all the more interesting. The soundtrack kind of got on my nerves after a while (same melody over and over again, gaaaah), but overall it wasn't bad. Not particularly fascinating either, despite the taboo concept (a brother and sister falling in love and the painful consequences of their relationship) - it was a very unexpected take on the whole thing, which I quite liked.
Also, new discovery: I pretty much adore Lynyrd Skynyrd and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Listened to quite a few songs today on Spotify, and I have to say they're quite awesome! CCR I knew I liked since a couple years back, when I first heard
Have You Ever Seen The Rain on Cold Case (last song on the very first episode), and now with
Lodi and
Bad Moon Rising which have been featured on Supernatural. What I really didn't expect was to find that Lynyrd Skynyrd are actually pretty good once you get past the whole "being Southern is awesome, dayum" attitude. Songs such as
Tuesday's Gone and of course
Simple Man which I heard on SPN are actually quite nice to listen to. SPN's making me a total classic rock fan, which is bizarre because I hardly ever liked classic rock before. I grew up with heavy metal and then gradually my taste got softer and softer (I like acoustic things now, lol). It's a pleasant surprise. The only thing is that some of the songs are mistagged on Spotify ("Tuesday's Gone" is tagged as "Don't Ask Me No Questions", and even "Sweet Home Alabama" is mistagged as "I Ain't The One")... which could mess up my last.fm charts :/ I'm quite fussy about that.
That's pretty much all my news. I'll go make some Criminal Minds icons now that I got my Photoshop back XD And get Fujiki Naohito's discography because he also sings, precious thing ♥♥♥
