Lucy Liu/Myra Tutorial

So, today we will learn how to make this :

First off I used these two pictures : this and this.

Then pasted them as new layers in a 420 by 100 px canvas.

The picture on the right was scaled down to 274 by 320.  Interpolation = Linear.
(Layer>Scale Layer)

For the picture on the left, scale it down to 350 by 258.  Interpolation = Linear.
(Layer>Scale Layer)

I then added a mask layer (White (full Opacity)) to each of the pictures of Miss Lucy. Using the brush below, I set the brush settings to opacity 13.7 and began to brush over each of the pictures using the paintbrush tool (color black).

The next thing I did was add the text.  Using the freetype tool, I typed in m y r a  s o l s t r a y. (color black)
(filters>text>freetype) These were my settings:

Using the Texttool, I made three lines of tinytext by setting my text on Arial, at size 2 with Antialiasing (color black).

Then, I took a sparkles brush (color white):

This these two dotty brushes (color black):

This accent brush (color black):

and the symbol from this brush (color black):

Then I made three new layers.  On the top new layer, I filled it with ffdb9c and set it to multiply on 66.7 opacity.  The middle new layer was filled with ff3d68 and set it to screen at 100 opacity. the thrid layer, I filled it with 003647 and set it to lighten only at 100 opacity.

Here is my final layer setup.  The numbers next to the layer names are simply the opacity:
