We have been watching over the Moms Jack Russell since Sunday. I have never particularly considered Vicious a well behave dog, and mostly at our own doing. Money and feasability have always gotten in the way of us taking him through obedience training. But during this week, I have gotten a chance to see just exactly what we have done correctly. Granted, the Moms did not get Dotty as a puppy, but given from my experiences this week, she is more than capable of learning. For example, we always have Vicious sit before we put him on or take him off his leash. Dotty will sit, but won't stay seated (Vicious does this to an extent, when he's just way too excited), but you end up spending 10 minutes getting her to sit long enough to even get hold of her collar. We'd also trained Vicious not to beg when we eat. That one has been an absolute killer on her. Also, she demands so much attention. Mom has been trying to train her not to jump up unless she's called, and we've been trying to do the same, but whoa is that dog stubborn. She has been getting a little bit better about just accepting laying at your feet. But the most absolutely aggrevating thing is the difference between a country and a city dog. We've always kept Vicious on a leash, runner, or in a fence outside of the house--otherwise he's a nose and mouth on four legs. Dotty is used to the door being opened, she runs out, wanders around for about 30 minutes, goes about her business, and comes back. Putting her in the fence is simply a challenge for her to get out. Needless to say, I've been ready to strangle her a time or to.
The Moms pick her up today, so that makes me feel infinitely better.
Now if only I can get Vicious to stop chewing up my good shoes. >< Unfortunately, he knows the difference between my favorite cute dress shoes or sandals and my running shoes. GRR!
