HELLO AGAIN!

My my, it has been some time my lovely livejournal. The reason I restarted this was because I wanted to journal my adventures of moving to Sydney. Well, I've been in Sydney for nearly 10 months now, so that was a FAIL. However, I have just moved into my 3rd house here (not including the backpackers) and I have a desk which I love having, so in celebration for that, I'm going to start posting again.

Firstly, here is a recap of what has happened to me in Sydney so far:

First 2 weeks, stayed at Billabong Gardens Backpackers at Newtown. King St is excellentay and I love it dearly. Everyone who is cool is there. I saw Tim Freedman outside the 7/11 there, and Alex from Red Riders walking down the street I was staying on. That's a massive reason why I wanted to move to Sydney - to be closer to so many of the awesome Aussie artists that are on the music scene at the moment. I went to my first Sydney gig at The Metro where The Cops & Expatriate were co-headlining, and ran into a manager I had met briefly in Brissie before. He ended up getting me to sell merch at an Old Man River gig at The Basement (sweet venue), where I met the lovely and extremely talented Dead Letter Chorus. Anyway, at the backpackers, I met a girl called Franci from Germany who was staying in my room. She asked whether I wanted to move in with her and some other girls from the backpackers until their friend came back from fruit-picking, and not loving sleeping in a room with 5 other girls, I immediately said yes.

The next 5 months were spent at a unit in North Bondi. The maximum people we had in this 2 bedroom unit was 7. There were the Germans - Franci, Sebastian & Maria, Kate from Scotland, Kaisa from Finland and Stavros - who after coming down for my birthday, decided he wanted to move to Sydney as well. I spent about 2 months of my time there sleeping on the couch. Uncool. I got a job at The Music Shop at Eastgardens - possibly the coolest job ever. Had a shit manager, but she left just before the xmas rush, and so myself, Stavros, Benny Dilgz and Lightning Ezra had a wicked time doing whatever we wanted and playing cool music. Copious amounts of V and Maltesers were consumed during my time there. My birthday was spent at the Newtown Festival where Dead Letter Chorus were headlining - by then my love for them had tripled so after some Chicken Wizard for dinner, it was concluded that it was a great birthday all round. During this time, I also started an internship with Lior's manager Nick Boshier - coolest. guy. ever. Mainly involves me doing the mail etc etc, but I get to do cool stuff quite a bit, and I get free gig tickets in return so it is sweet as your nanna.

We hit March, and my lease runs out while I'm in Brisbane for the Laneway Festival (huzzah!), I get back and spend another 2 months in Billabong Gardens. The Music Shop gets shut down much to my horror and sadness (stupid Novo shoes are there now), and I'm left homeless and jobless and pretty upset. Ben tells me he might know someone who is looking for a room-mate. And then there is house 2...

I move into Coogee with Anna, Scott and Bron. I get a job at Smiggle, and then quit a month later because the manager is an idiot and the people at Bondi Junction are rude. At a party about 2 weeks in, my friend Amali tells me she is looking for a room-mate and I must move in with her. I'm drunk, and the rent is cheaper, and I know her better, so I agree. Her roomie didn't move out until July though, so I stay at the Coogee house til then with my adorable hideous carpet. During this time, ol' Jack Chambers wins SYTYCD. I knew he would win, I've been telling him that for years - I did scream though when he won because he really, really deserved it.

And welcome to the present! I moved in on Friday to my new place at Randwick. I'm round the corner from "The Spot" (restaurants, cinemas etc) and am now working at kikki K at Eastgardens. MUCH better. I live with Amali, Maddie & Essie and my room has the coolest fireplace in it. I'm still doing the Lior internship, and am also doing another one with my friend Jake, working with my friends band Jordan Millar & The Question (they are actually incredible) and a Melbourne artist Renee Cassar. It's been a fun, crazy, stupid time down here, but I'm loving it. And now this post is beyond massive, so here's a quick list of the bands I've seen so far since I moved here:
