commercials and motherhood

There's a new bell sympatico commercial being played.

It's a man standing in his living room, in front of his couch watching t.v. He's mostly unclothed as he's ironing his pants (wife beater on-you get the idea). On the one end of his ironing board there's a portable phone, on the other he keeps putting the hot iron. As he's watching t.v the phone rings and instead of picking up the phone he picks up the iron and the camera cuts away before we can actually see him press that hot iron to his face, let me assure you... we get a real idea that it's going to be painful.

The first time that commercial came on I covered my eyes and made a noise quite similar to the same noise I made when I saw a random car accidentally drive over a puppy.
Drew took one look at me and his words were something of an odd, yet personal comfort.

"You won't do that. Don't worry, it won't happen."

I started laughing.

The thought of me doing something like the commercial is real. If your a woman, you know ALL to clearly what I am talking about here. And if you've never thought about these things rest assured, your “other thoughts,” you know, the ones about you never having children, is real and you should go with that feeling and NOT have children.

See these normal “crazy thoughts” come from the same place that wondering-if-you-left-your-baby-on-the-car-roof comes from, what if my baby chokes on their food, what if they fall out of the crib, what if they trip and fall on the ice crack their head open and the stick they are carrying flys forward and stabs into their leg?

A mother always worries even if she doesn't have any children... right now that is. *coy smile*
