Many many men can't see the open road

So my daddy is here.

:D

It's such a wonderful feeling to see him. It definitely reinforces the realization I've made that I do not need to live with my parents... just near them. Because I enjoy having my own life, but I really want them to be a big part in it and I really do love being with them. But it is okay for me to be gone. That's a good feeling. It's also nice to be loved so deeply. My father literally drove for 12.5 straight hours to come visit me. And then when he sees me tells me that even if he only got to hug me once it would have made the whole trip worth it. There are no words.

So I dropped math. Went from 18 to 13 units just like that. And my life is so much better. I was starting to get crabby and snap at people and that really isn't me. And then I failed my chem mid-term. Not fun failing either. None of that 50% shit. Gah. And I shouldn't have failed so badly. That was my first clue that maybe, just maybe, I was over-doing it. Hm. heh. It took a lot to get me to drop, though. I genuinely thought I could NOT drop math... but finally Cara just sat me down and said, "You can do whatever you want." And then I realized I CAN. I can do whatever I want. So I dropped.

Then I went to see Sofia two weekends ago. It was wonderful to see her. I miss her. And her roommates are awesome. I really liked meeting them... and I met a lot of other people too. They were all ridiculously nice. Even though I was from stanford. lol. Which seemed to matter to some people a little too much. Usually the bitter few were the ones that got rejected from here. Eh. That's why Cal exists, no? ;P I did meet a very nice frat boy named Tom who sent me beautiful flowers on the Tuesday after I met him. It was a little intense but incredibly sweet. I've never been sent flowers before. Especially by someone I'd known one night. But it made my week. :D

Last weekend was Screw Your Roommate and the Roble all-campus partay. SYR is where you set your roomie up on a blind date... and our dorm went bowling. Cara set me up with a cute lacrosse player... who on the ride over to dinner and bowling informed me that he was already kinda drunk. AWESOME. Except he wasn't a talkative drunk. Oh no. He was a quiet drunk. And lord knows I'm AWESOME at carrying on one-sided conversations (and by awesome i mean not even close). But bowling is always fun. And the party was really good. Except for the part where I got thrown into a mud pit fully clothed with my phone against my will. That was an unhappy moment. I then put myself fully clothed into a shower for a half an hour. Sometimes, when you've had a half a bottle of champagne, you don't think so clearly. My phone is so fucked, tho. I spent two hours the next day taking it apart and cleaning the mud out. Did you know you can take the keys out? It was a little scary, I'm not gonna lie. :D

In other news, I'm going to Miami with Val over spring break. And before that KAREN IS COMING TO VISIT. And I am so excited I cannot contain myself. There are just some people in life you learn you cannot live without- and she is one of them. (MUAH)

I bought the Notebook today and am going to watch it tonight. I am rather enthused for it... such a beautiful love story. It makes you want to be in love. Or at least the idea of being in love.

Before I start rambling I am gonna stop now. Life is going really well now. It's amazing what changing roommates will do for you.
