When Rory dumped Dean for Jess, I was horrified. Why, why, why was she doing this to poor sweet Dean? Dean, who loved her so much, who was such a sweet boyfriend. And for who? Jess? Jess who was a messed up kid, who was nothing but trouble, and on top of that, put on more heirs than Queen Elizabeth.
With time, I understood why Rory couldn't care for Dean. Yeah, he was sweet, he was cute, but there was really nothing to relate to. They'll treat you nice, but in the end, they don't really NEED you, and they're kind of selfish in relationships because they think they're such a catch. They also are ridiculously possessive and act like they own you.
But Jess's are complicated and deep, and intelligent and exciting. They're so messed up, but all you want to do is fix them, and when you see them start to change, even just a little bit, you fall for them even deeper.
But the thing with Jess's are, yeah they may make you feel more alive than anything else, but they can also make you feel like you're dead inside. They will never be yours, even though you know you are the love of their lives. They need you like air, but they just don't know how to treat you, and you'll end up paying the price for every single person that's hurt them in the past. And ultimately, they'll let themselves lose you before they admit to how they really feel about you.
So for all those girls with Deans, if security is what you want, stick with them. If you want to lose your heart and get it smashed into tiny pieces, go for a Jess. But don't say I didn't warn you.
The sensible thing to do, is not to go for either. Just don't bother with guys. Seriously. They're all just assholes.
