Fat Talk and Model Evolution

Apr 11, 2009 19:23

I'll probably post a more private entry tomorrow, but until then:

On one of the boards I frequent, one of the users just posted two photos of the before/after variety. She wanted to share her joy over losing 12 lb and complained that her husband had looked at them and said: "And where's the difference?". Then he had lookd again and said: "Right, on the first one you have more feminine curves."

I will NOT comment that I thought exactly the same ... 'cause, you know, that would be mean. But the posting made me think of a video someone posted recently on shangy_feminism, which I want to share:

I think the video message is spot on How often have I heard perfectly normal girls and women complain that they are too fat! It's idiotic.

On the other hand, most people are very polite about my weight (which I appreciate), but don't think twice about making negative remarks when a woman is very thin. As if negative comments no your body weren't depressing regardles of your figure/body shape.
