the shoppes are evil. i went to buy a pair of work pants and ended up spending $244...UNACCEPTABLE!
for some, i'm sure that's nothing but to me that's nuts! but it's okay, i've already decided that i'm returning almost $50 of it, so it makes me feel better. ha.
i purchased the song "ding dong the witch is dead" from iTunes this morning and burned it to CD. then after the store closed, my employees and i filmed a 30-60 second skit/interpretive dance to said song. why you ask? merely because we are beyond awesome. actually our boss, and pretty much a favorite of everyones...sadly is leaving us. her last day is wednesday. she's transferring to the roseville store which makes me sad and i'm really not sure what it's gonna be like without her. she's one of those ladies that makes everything better even when she can't. i get to work with her almost everyday, and each of those days, when we're around each other, are quality for sure and full of dorkiness and laughs. tear.
a month or so ago, she was telling me that about 4-5 years ago when her sister died she asked her son, kelsey, which song he'd play at her funeral, and without skipping a beat, he said "ding dong the witch is dead!!" so we always crack up about it and she made me promise that that song IS in fact played at her funeral or she will haunt me and her children :o) so since then we've joked about how not only will we play it, we'll also throw in some interpretive dance moves in the mix!
i think to fully appreciate the humor in it all, you'd have to understand our silliness. and of course watch the video! oh man, it's hilarious. there are these dumb tool totes that we have at our store that all employees think are ridiculous yet most of us own one, but someone came up with the name nerd tote, since none of us would openly walk in public holding one...rather, just hide it under our desk...so tena put her hair in pigtails, so she was "dorothy" and she had a nerd tote on her arm and we started the short film out by tena saying, "don't worry NERD-TOTO, the wicked witch is dead!" and then we broke into song and dance and silliness.
it pushed back my closing time a lot but it was worth it!
i'm still coming up with her "big" gift...i'm thinking i'm gonna put together a "roseville survival kit" of hilariousness since that store royally sucks at pretty much everything!! yet barely does anything at the same time. pauline is making her a little book of "nerd tote" testimonials..it's frickin' hilarious! she showed me some of the pictures tonight...she found some corny testimonials online somewhere, saved the image and changed the text so all of them were about nerd-totes. it's pretty stellar! so now i'm gonna have to try and top that or come up to that same level of gift-radness or it'll be unacceptable.
i have until wednesday. (insert jeopardy music here____)
