Firefox 2 and all Gecko 1.8 related products are going to be abandoned mid-December, meaning they will get no more security updates or stablity updates.
If--and this is a big if, I'm aware--you know/think Firefox 3 can run on your system and you're using 2 instead of 3, I'd upgrade, perhaps.
