Thought this looked like fun. I probably won't be posting every day but I'll try to finish it before the end of the month. Now, to catch up:
1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
I started reading Harry Potter in 2004 and loved

This is such a great writing meme. I think it's interesting to read about other writers in the fandom and different thought processes and approaches, when it comes to writing fan fiction. Like, for instance, your other post on leaving comments. LJ is both very personal and very impersonal, so I enjoy reading things like this and getting to know you a little better.
I love Harry Potter, but I’m not a part of that fandom, so I’ve never read any HP fics. Remus/Sirius sounds intriguing, though, because I love both characters. But I do have to ask: What makes fan fiction based on books different than fan fiction based on a tv show or soap opera? Is it generally better or the same? I’m always hesitant to read fan fiction based on books, because I feel like it can’t possibly live up to the original source. Books are usually more detailed and more set in stone than tv shows or games or films. And with Luke/Reid, for example, it’s not that hard to write something that’s better than or different from what TPTB gave us. Like smut. Not that I'm still bitter or anything. Nope, not me.
5 -If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?
Oh, Ruth. What a nightmare! But you wrote her brilliantly, I loved hating her!

I've never looked as them being different, whether they're books, films, shows, etc. The thing with the R/S pairing is that they weren't in HP too much, and I mostly wrote and was a fan of R/S in the Marauder era, way before Harry. Because there isn't a lot about this time, I think it's easier to make up stuff and create a universe for them.
Ruth! Ha ha, sometimes I want to write a stand-alone fic on her whereabouts just for fun.
