Yesterday, my girl read a tweet from NASA's feed about hearing two sonic booms. A short discussion about energy management manouevres followed, and I managed to get to NASA's TV feed about 3 seconds before Discovery touched down.
I think this is the first mission in ages that I saw both the lift off and the touchdown...
And there are just EIGHT more flights of the shuttle (three each for Atlantis and Endeavor, two for Discovery) before the USA gets out of the manned space flight business for (at least) five years.
