I got my refund check today, and obviously paid the cable bill, so as a treat, I took my girlfriend out, who hasn't left the house in so long.
I wanted to surprise her with something a bit different: a restaurant in the South Side called The Library. I freaking loved this place. It was a bit pricey, but I loved it. First timer, but the idea was great, in my opinion.
This place was like a ritzy restaurant for geeks, to put it that way. The tables were lacquered with maps (I saw the globe table and initially wanted to sit there, but we found something for two, a lacquered table with instructions on wood construction.), newspapers, dictionary pages, encyclopedia pages, you name it. When we sat down, the waitress, a very cute geeky chick who seemed a little shy somewhat, gave us each a book. Inside the front part of the book was the menu. Some of the food were:
-the Tyler Durden
-Animal Farm
-Peter Pan Fried Provolone
-the Huck Finn (I had that one, which was a bbq pulled beef sandwich. VERY good)
-Edgar Allen Potatoes
-Mary's Not So Little Lamb ( the one Quinn had. It was basically a gyro sandwich.)
-Hamlet
-The Sky Is Falling (I wanted to try this, because it sounds delicious. It was grilled chipotle chicken with lime, with black bean cake, and something else, but it sounded mmmm.)
-Alice In Wonderland
-Of Mice and Men
-Where the Wild Things Are
-Jack and the Beanstalk
-Arabian Knights
-Billy Goats Gruff
-Tres Tigres Tristes
-The Labors of Hercules
-Breakfast of Champions
-The Secret Garden
-Julius Caesar
-Wings of Icarus
-Hunter S. Thompson
-Yellow Brick Road
-The Scarlet Letter
-The ugly Duckling
-King Arthur
-A Light in the Attic
I unintentionally did things that made my woman giggle like crazy.lol. I didn't hear the guy say,"Ladies first." And I said,"why, thank you!" and proceeded forward, and Quinn just about lost it. I didn't understand what happened, so she told me what I misconstrued/misheard.
Then apparently, when I got my dessert, I giggled with glee and squealed," it's got... creeeeam!" and she teeheed once more.
My dessert was awesome. It was a strawberry tart and it tasted almost like a ritzy version of Starburst. Quinn had a mousse dome thingy she liked.
We both had a good time tonight, but Quinn later revealed that she wasn't really in a lamb mood, so she didn't enjoy her sandwich as much as I did mine; there was just SO much meat. The sauce that came with the Edgar Allen Potatoes was AWESOME jawesome. Very good stuff.
I suggest if you like trying new things, go here. It's pretty close the the Birmingham Bridge in the South Side. It's near the Mallorca tapas bar (oh god, don't get me started about my Spanish teacher getting drunk off of sangria in a tapas bar when we were in Spain.lol).
Well, that's it.
