Land of the misled, and home of the ignorant... I'm so happy to be off tomorrow, especially since Katrina and I are on the same schedule now. Kat really wants to see some fireworks, as do I, but I feel a little hypocritical celebrating American freedom day when we are so busy terrorizing the rest of the planet. I would love to buy into the whole patriotic thing, but I just can't. I am grateful to live somewhere that I have more than enough food available to me and a roof over my head and even a number of unnecessarily frivolous things; but I can't help but think that this country is in an age that lies and deceit have become the norm for our leaders. I'm not just talking about the squinty eyed weasel who is the current liar-in-chief, but most of the leaders today, regardless of party affiliation. Why isn't a political job a civil service position? Why can't it be like jury duty or voting? Something that's an annoyance but also a civil obligation and privilege. There should be no glory, or high salary or corpro-political networking. You should not be able to ever work for an associate that you serve with in a political capacity. Go out and look for a damn job yourself, you lazy son of a bitch. Don't rely on your political "connections" to hook you up.
So enough of my ranting...
Katrina's first day at CompHealth is today. We had our first Friday date night in a year last week. It's been really nice spending time together. We went to the Planetarium and saw an IMAX film called "The Living Sea". Then we went to a great Thai restaurant called Lemon Grass. All of this was while we were on our bikes. We are having so much fun riding around town. there is so much to do in Salt Lake in the summertime. I get to the point that I question whether I want to leave or not. I love it here but the weather just hurts me for 6 months of the year (knees).
