Here be dragons

I love dragons, but it's really hard to find decent figures that don't cost a bomb. Still, on holiday a few years ago, I found a series of McFarlane dragon figures at Universal Studios, Hollywood. It was really hard trying to choose among all of them, but I finally got the Series 2 Fire Dragon. Doesn't sound like much, but it's an interesting mix of 3 different forms. It has the four limbs and pair of wings typical of the Western dragons, but has the serpentine shape of a Chinese dragon and an interesting scale pattern that reminds me of Quetzalcoatl, the Aztec feathered serpent. Frankly, words are insufficient to describe it, so have a look instead.

Once I'd gotten home and fixed it up, I wondered if there were more than those I'd seen. I did check the site, didn't find any others that tickled my fancy. And then today I checked it again and, oh my, there are a ton of new ones! Of course, most are the fairly typical Western variety, but there are some really weird and wonderful ones. Like the one that kinda looks like a fish, fins and all, or the one that looks like a armored Draconian from Dragonlance, or even the one that looks like an ice alien from another planet!

There are some that I really like, though. The Series 4 Komodo is just magnificent, although the slave girl kinda spoils the effect. The tiger-like Hunter, the lich-dragon and the 3-headed hydra are also quite eye-catching. I've been drooling over the pics all day and plotting on getting my hands on some of them. Sadly, I'm out of shelf space and my brother keeps reminding me that my gigantic Exoforce mech is sitting on his shelf.

*wishful sigh*
