And now it's a R.A.T.

It wasn't that long ago when I got my Razer mouse. I was a bit concerned when I heard that for Razer mice, the left and right buttons tended to degrade over time and get sticky, but I was hoping they'd improved the material since then. Now, unfortunately, my Krait's buttons have indeed become icky and are actually rather scary to look at.

Coincidentally, I'd seen a very impressive mouse review (a whopping 98%) in the Jan issue of PC Gamer. Curious to see if it was available locally, I went around a few shops and even looked up online price lists for local shops. The mice I found were either Microsoft, Logitech, Razer or Steelseries. Not too surprising, the gaming population here is probably too small to bother bringing in obscure brands of mice. Still, I kept at it and a Google search finally brought up a small website listing the mice in limited stock.

I'm sure some people might think that the R.A.T. 5 is the ugliest mouse they've ever seen, but I rather liked it's features: adjustable length, weight, 4 different resolutions and a 'sniper button' that reduces mouse sensitivity in sniper mode in order to improve accuracy. The last feature was especially appealing since I play quite a few shooters with sniper rifles (Mass Effect 2 currently). I'm now crossing my fingers and hoping the mouse buttons don't get icky after long term use :p
