In the third dimension

Saw Bolt a few days ago. It coincided with the opening of the first 3D equipped theaters over here, so I was curious and went for the 3D version. I liked the added depth (excuse the pun), especially when they made use of it, like a crane boom swinging close to the camera. Still, Bolt isn't a dedicated 3D movie (in the way Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D is), so the depth effects were fairly subtle most of the time. What I really liked, though, were the characters. The hamster (dang, I've forgotten his name already!) was so enthusiastic I couldn't help rooting for him all the way. And all those pigeons, utterly, hilariously clueless! But my favorite bit was Bolt begging for food in the trailer park. All those cute puppy-dog faces, and for the finale he pulls off a Puss-In-Boots, complete with huge woeful eyes. Man, the theater totally erupted right there!
