[It's another evening shift at Good Spirits. Buffy seems to be spending a lot of her time at the bar, soaking up the gossip and avoiding boredom. She is developing a habit of patrolling afterwards, before she heads home. It feels nice for the days to regain some form of structure. Less lazy

I very sincerely hope I am. [Pause.] Maybe it's just in the bar. Y'know? Locale specific, or something.

I don't think working in a bar makes you believe you're losing your mind.

What happened?

[slaying]

[Irrationally--as though to quell any imagined accusations:] I don't drink. [Hmm.] Not much. Not often.

[Sigh.] There's music playing, sometimes. Music that definitely probably isn't supposed to be playing.

Very much so. But...I haven't heard it in a long time.

Can anybody else hear it?

[slaying]

That'd be a no. But...[there is the sound of her flipping through the journal.] I think other people might be hearing different things. But it doesn't look to be village-wide. [If it was, there would be less quips about her being at the bar.]

If more than a couple people are experiencing it, then it's not natural. [Oh thank Holy. Kind of.] Try to tune it out, I guess.

Ever try to tune out a disjointed bass beat, Cloud?

[She doesn't really know what his world's like, so she assumes yet another hokey medievialesque village.]

I've had more practice tuning out things higher in pitch. [Like screeches and a crazy alien woman's voice. No hokey villages though (at least, not in adulthood); Cloud's just not into the club scene.]

That's...a vaguely weird and creepy thing to practice.

If it's not making you want to hurt something, you probably shouldn't sweat it. Just try to ignore it.

I'll do one better. I'll try and enjoy it.

[Doesn't sound too convinced that she can, though.]
