[It's another evening shift at Good Spirits. Buffy seems to be spending a lot of her time at the bar, soaking up the gossip and avoiding boredom. She is developing a habit of patrolling afterwards, before she heads home. It feels nice for the days to regain some form of structure. Less lazy

[ Since Buffy started working at the bar, McCoy has found his drinking haven has been spoiled by her constant attendance there. Or that is what he is claiming for his lack of appearance at Good Spirits and staying at home to drink lately. After all, he can't have his reputation ruined by people catching him savouring a glass of mint julep.

The tension in her voice catches his attention though and he responds to it a while later, sounding somewhat distracted. It's difficult to concentrate with this chime ringing in his ears: ]

Did you get an unwelcome gift as well?

Sorta, yeah. You could put it that way. Kinda like a hallucination chalk full of hinky nostalgia.

Hmph. I'd describe it as more of an irritation myself.

Snippets of the equipment in sickbay, mostly; even that damn transporter.

I thought hearing music would be up your alley.

Not when it's just itsy bitsy snatches. Or from my best friend's ex-boyfriend's band.

... Right, that would be awkward then.

Apparently just awkward for me. No one else hears it.

Well, unless the stress of this place has decided to get to everyone at the same time, I'd say this is an experiment. Trick of the mind and all that.

[ But from the way he sounds, this is definitely awkward for him. ]

The affected seem to be a big time minority, so far.

[Pause.] People have been insinuating that I'm drunk.

That's ridiculous. You don't drink.

Exactly. That's what I've been telling them! I'm a total teetotaller.

[Except for in moments of extreme emotional anguish.]

Hmph.. don't pay too much mind to them. They'll probably be changing their tune sooner or later.
