Killing sprees, huh? That's so last season.

[Buffy sighs, and the journal picks up the gentle clinking of glasses.] Well, I'm a bit more used to--y'know--beating up bartenders for info but now that I am one? Hmm. If anyone's got some juicy knowledge on the murders, swing by Good Spirits and give a girl a hand with her investigating, okay?

investigating is my thing, public service announcement, she trolls bones because she likes him, beer bad, maybe this was a bad idea, don't touch that dartboard

I didn't realize you had taken up bar-tending.

It's a way to take my mind off things. I'm not exactly convinced that I'm good at it.

I suppose it depends on how long you have been practicing it.

Uhm, a few days? But Guy's been really patient with me.

Well there you go. You're just being a little hard on yourself.

It's actually not that tough. Guy's got this notebook filled with different drinks and people are pretty nice about it all. It beats hanging out at home, over-microwaving things.

'Over' microwaving?

It goes ding too often, so Bones kinda vetoed me getting too cook-happy with it. Y'know, small breadboxish appliance? Arrived with all the electricity--[or maybe Raine's house didn't get one, Buffy wasn't sure how this whole mod-con raffle worked.]

I-I know which one it is. I just wasn't certain what you meant by the phrase.

Well, microwaves are easy but they don't tend produce the most nutritious stuff. Me getting too microwave happy isn't exactly impressing the resident doctor.

They aren't? I thought they could just cook meals faster than the actual stove. [Not that she's been allowed to practice much.]

It's...a science thing. Something to do with the little radiation waves, or something. Plus, back home? There are meals made just for microwaves and they're probably stuffed with chemicals and additives to make them keep longer. Some of that stuff's been appearing in the shops now that we've got electricity.

Have they? [...Now she just wants to experiment more with it.]

I suppose it's something to look into.

Yeah! They're totally useful for anyone who's not so skilled in the kitchen. Like--[uhm]--me. I'm a death-wish with a paring knife. So, pop something into the microwave instead and--voila! Instant chef.

But what if you wanted to prepare an actual meal there? It seems that it might be stifling, to have someone else do all the work for you.

Well, that's what electric stoves are for. Y'know, if that culinary bug bites.
