Memory loss? So not my cup of joe. Chalk another one up for the Malnosso having some kind of uberpowers. The more I witness, the less I like.

[An audible sigh. There's the sound of a mug coming back to rest upon a table-top.] Guess it's time to make it official. If anyone's curious, I'm no longer living back at forty-seven. If you want to find me ( Read more... )

[And bang zoom, look who is here in this nice little item shop. He's actually here in the back looking a bit nostalgically at the old man (tm) staple of Christmastime. It's a miniature nativity scene. You know with the little felt dolls for baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the Three Kings, the Shepherds and the animals? The works. Like that.

Not that this is why he's here originally by any means, just that this is what he's lookin' at for the moment.]

[Quietly, Buffy approaches. She leans down, eying the nativity scene with a bit of a smile.] Growing up, I always thought these were just really brainy dollhouses. You know, for history geeks. But ours was kinda plasticy. This one's...kind of sweet.

[She readjusts her grip on a cloth bag and moves her smile over to the man himself.] How's the winter been treating you?

Not as well as winter in Miami had. [And now he looks on over at her, because he was still sparing his gaze on the nativity scene there. He does smile all the same] And yourself?

Me? I'm coping. Extra-layers, plus lots and lots of hot chocolate.

[She grabs the Mary from the display, turning the Virgin over in her hands.] Our captors seem pretty accommodating, this season. [Buffy finally holds Mary up, tilting her towards Caine--as if to say, look what they're willing to give us.]

They are indeed... [A pause and then he considers the Virgin in her hands before shaking his head. Prison back home was... well in some ways it was equally accommodating, in many ways it was far less. But then as he focuses back on her he cocks his head to the side before-]

Have they been less so in other seasons?

Didn't you hear about the time they asked us to kill each other? Well, some of each other. That's almost the definition of non-accommodating.

I had heard of that. [...] But I meant in terms of niceties in the stores.

[Chuckle] Nor my cell.

See? Never pegged you for a cell guy. More of a beeper type.

[Says the girl who comes from a time when cell phones are a lot less ubiquitous. And a lot more chunky.]

Beeper... [A beat and then-] I was once. Cells phones have advanced quite a bit in the last few years. [Though that's odd; she claimed in his survey to be from 2005. He's been using them for some time before that. Hm]

[For some reason, her canon suggests there are not too many floating around. At least, in the final season, her and her sister getting matching chunky flip-phones is not only exciting, but strictly for business. Not fun.]

I still can't figure out how to change the clock on mine.

I'll tell you what; if- [a pause, then he slows it down-] If yours shows up, I'll help you set it.

You're just helpful all around, aren't you? [She smiles, but seems to eye the officer with a bit of hesitation.]

miamijustice December 27 2009, 18:29:04 UTC
Not all around. [Still, he does leave it at that for the time being]

Of course--not all around because there are bad guys and you can't really be helpful with them. Criminals? Not the understanding type.
