It's happened. [A long pause and the sound of warm clothing being wrapped around.] Anyone who knew--knows--Angel? He's been sent home. I woke up this morning and all his stuff was cleared out.

[The feed abruptly cuts off as Buffy slams the book shut. She ventures outside and anyone walking by Good Spirits can probably see her sitting at a table ( Read more... )

[ Kirk walks up behind her, slipping a mug in front of her. Hot cocoa. Better with the weather than whatever it was she was drinking. ]

[Luckily for the both of them, her poison hadn't exactly been picked yet. At the sight of the mug she looks up. Oh, Jim. That's certainly enough for a small smile.]

Thanks.

[ A nod and he sits down next to her. He lets out a sigh, wings shuffling under the large coat from Delta Vega. ]

Wanna do anything?

[She has a sip from the mug.] Most of what I want to do involves a scientist and a baseball bat. First Dawn, now Angel? I know we're supposed to be glad they got to go home but I just feel all stomach-twisty.

I get it. [ He smiled though. ] Could play baseball. In the snow. That'd fix the bat part.

[She smirks abruptly into her cocoa, having had certainly no intentions of smiling when she had lifted it to her lips.

But she shakes her head.] The only long and wooden things that belong in my hands have to do with vampires and God that came out wrong. [She buries her eyes in the palm of her left hand and shifts in her chair like it's the first time she had moved more than an inch in an hour.]

Under other circumstances, he probably would have liked you. You're both the saves-the-day type with your crack team of other types working for you.

[ Kirk eyed her. He wasn't big on the whole 'Angel' thing. Probably because the guy glared knives into him whenever he walked into the house. ]

Well, it might not be wooden, but you know. Just offering.

[It does the trick, though. It gives Buffy the required nudge. The one that suggests her moping over undead exes was probably not the best form of behaviour in front of the current honey.]

Jeez, Jim. Do you command your ship with that mouth?

Not always.

[ There was that grin that gave off the air of 'maybe I do, maybe I don't.' Sure, Kirk allowed himself to check out the very nice ladies on his ship. But, the only relationship he thought that could work on the ship was Uhura and Spock's. He'd leave romancing to alien non-Starfleet women.]

But, on a more serious note. You figure out where you're going now?

It's pretty useless, me staying at forty-seven. Faith and I have never been the best of friends and I don't know the other two very well. They were Angel's people.

[Time to drop the hint--she tries to do it as casually as possible.] And I've been spending most of my time over at your place, anyway. It's not like I'm home much.

[ He nodded. ]

Bones has his girl there. You and I can bunk in my room. Unless, that's a problem.

That's...not a problem. Not a problem at all. Pretty much the definition of not a problem. So long as, you know, the rest of your folks don't mind.

If there was a problem with that? I think they would of brought it up already.

Then...[she indulges in another sip] I guess that's a plan. I'll pack my stuff up and let the others know they'll be one room-mate short. Again.

[But she doesn't move. Clearly that'll be what happens later. Now is the time for not doing anything.]
