Poetry Friday: After the River the Sun by Dia Calhoun

May 10, 2013 07:00

Standing before the open window,
she lifted her bow
like a wand of light
and began to play.
The old violin had a golden tone-
each note as bright and warm
as the sunshine
coming through the window.

Today's poem is plucked from the pages of the verse novel After the River the Sun by Dia Calhoun, which will be published on July 9th, 2013. Check out Read more... )

Great list of Verse Novels! Thanks for the resource. I just finished Tamara Will Wissinger's Gone Fishing -- another great one for the younger set. (Also of note: Like Pickle Juice on a Cookie, Like Bug Juice on a Burger)

Thanks for reminding me of Diamond Willow. I wonder if I'll have time to read it aloud before the end of the school year? (we're 1/3 of the way through As Easy As Falling Off The Edge Of The Earth)
