Anne of Green Gables is one of my favorite books, too. My hope is that this announcement brings greater awareness about depression and suicide. It's a tough topic, but one that definitely needs to be discussed--especially among young people.

Oh my. How sad. I love Anne deeply, and Mrs. Montgomery for giving me Anne. I hope that actions like this one of her family's will help to ensure that no one ever has to feel shame for needing help with their mental health. I am not one to believe too strongly in an afterlife, but I do hope that she went on to her nicest ever fantasy come to life. I wish there were some way to give her what she's given me.

In Anne, I found a fictional friend, someone who was as imaginative as I was, who believed in her dreams and made them happen, who valued school, knowledge, writing, stories, family, and friendship. I thank L.M. Montgomery for sharing her stories with the world.

All day long, I keep thinking, "Poor Lucy Maud," then thanking her for her books.
