Hands On! 33 More Things Every Girl Should Know by Suzanne Harper

May 25, 2008 10:02

Hands On! 33 More Things Every Girl Should Know is a collection of non-fiction essays written by successful women on a number of topics.

The book kicks off with Colonel Eileen Collins, who commanded space shuttle flights, and wraps up with filmmaker Jessica Yu acknowledging that, sometimes, advice is better ignored. The writers share personal stories as well as tips on manners, friendship, cooking, appreciating your family, respecting others, earning, saving, and investing money, using the dictionary, even car care. Lois Lowry's anecdotes may water your eyes. Many of the contributions, such as by Chely Wright and Iyanla Vanzant, are filled with positive messages and positive reinforcement.

Edited by Suzanne Harper, Hands On! encourages girls to speak up, pursue their passions, be prepared, and ask questions. Share this with your sisters, your daughters, and your friends.
