It was odd. The doctors didn't know what was wrong with me, but they treated it as more than a headache. Still, they let me go home, but not without three prescriptions. But I was home, laying on the couch, before I remembered them.
"Buffy, I need someone to go to the pharmacy. I was given prescriptions for" I squinted at the doctor's handwriting, "Lortab, Neurontin, and Zomig. Two of those are for the headache, and one is for the passing out, in case it was a seizure." I didn't think it was, but I'm not a doctor.
I could see a bit of tightness around Riley's eyes. He didn't look happy that Spike was here. But he'd been a sweetheart, for a vampire, and did drive us home.
"Spike, thank you so much. I wanted to get you a cup of tea, but I don't think I can get up. Dawn?" I was asking her to get him something. Before she could turn away, I added,"Oh, and Dawn honey, you get a get-out-of-jail free card for calling 911. This time. But don't think I forgot, and don't think you can get away with it again." I smiled, and sighed. I knew so little of what my girls did when I wasn't looking.
Buffy looked different, but I couldn't say how. And Dawn looked more grown-up, almost like I've never seen her at all.
"Riley, I'm glad you're here. It's nice to see you again." Riley was Buffy's boyfriend, Spike was her...vampire? No, that wasn't right. Her friend? Maybe. I certainly ocunted him among my friends, because I really have so few. And because he has been pretty good to us. Well, he did attack Buffy and I had to hit him, but that was past history.
It was all so complicated, it started to make my head throb again.
"I hate to be pushy," as I closed my eyes, "but could someone fill those for me? The headache is back." I leaned back into the couch pillow, and tried to relax.
